Fresno State Police Search For Suspect In Sexual Battery

Fresno State Police Chief David Huerta announced a search is ongoing for Fidel I. Tafoya, who cut off a GPS ankle monitor and is accused of committing a sexual battery in the Henry Madden Library at approximately 8 p.m. Monday, October 7.


Chief Huerta appealed to the public for assistance and announced that Central Valley Crime Stoppers has added Tafoya to its list with a $200 reward for information leading to his arrest.(The alert bulletin that was posted on campus is attached as well as separate photo).

Gas Leak: Downtown Fresno

Construction crews were inside doing demolition work when a concrete block wall fell onto a 2 inch steel gas line.

Evacuations have been made along the Fulton Mall from Homerun Alley to VanNess and from Inyo to Tulare. Businesses within that section are currently evacuated. Media should set up at Inyo/Fulton.

Arrests In Fresno Murder

This will be an update regarding the arrest of a murder suspect that occurred last month in Southeast Fresno. 

On Sunday, July 21st, at around 1 am, officers from the Southeast Policing District responded to a disturbance call at 415 S. Sierra Vista.  When officers arrived, they learned that the victim, 58 year old Fresno resident, Gabriel Pulido had got into an argument with his one of his neighbors identified as 23 year old Fresno resident, Alfredo Gutierrez. 

During the disturbance, Gutierrez injured Pulido.  As a result of Pulido’s injuries, Pulido was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment and was admitted.  On July 26th, Pulido died while at Community Regional Medical Center as a result of the injuries he sustained during the assault. 

Fresno Police Homicide Detectives John Viveros and Richard Tacadena were assigned to investigate the death of Pulido.





(Clovis, CA): The Summer/Labor Day National Anti-DUI crackdown has resulted in a significant number of DUI arrests from local routine traffic enforcement and special AVOID the 21 DUI deployments overnight in Fresno and Madera Counties.

From 12:01 AM Friday August 16, 2013 through Midnight Thursday, August 29, 2013 officers representing 21 county law enforcement agencies have arrested 117** individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2012 109 DUI arrests occurred during the same fourteen (14) day time period.

Earlier this morning, August 20, 2013, at 2:36am, Southwest patrol officers responded to Collins/Mariposa for a call of a shooting.  Officers located a 25 year old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.  The victim was transported to CRMC for medical treatment and is expected to survive his injuries. 

Prior to being transported, the victim told officers he was shot at the residence of 753 Kern Street.  Southwest patrol officers quickly responded to the location, detained involved parties, and secured the residence for detectives while a search warrant was written.

Street Violence Section Felony Assault Detective Alfonso Castillo responded to both locations and learned the victim had walked to 753 Kern Street to confront the residents about money owed to him.



The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of two people, one a wanted parolee, after leading deputies on a 25 minute high speed pursuit.  Arrested were 31 year old Phillip Paul Marquez, and 27 year old Naomi Alexis Trevino, both of Fresno.


          Earlier this morning, shortly after 3:00am, deputies observed three subjects parked in a vehicle near the intersection of Van Ness & Rialto in Old Fig Garden.  As deputies were preparing to check the vehicle and subjects, the driver, later identified as Marquez, sped off at a high rate of speed.  When deputies attempted a traffic stop, Marquez refused to pull over and a pursuit ensued.


          Reaching speeds of up to 90 mph, the pursuit travelled south on Freeway 41 to Freeway 99, and then down to the City of Fowler.&nbsp

SACRAMENTO – As of today, 364 inmates in seven state prisons are on a hunger strike disturbance, down from 12,421 inmates on July 11, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). An inmate is considered to be on a hunger strike after he has missed nine consecutive meals.


A total of 210 inmates have been on a mass hunger strike continuously since July 8.


CDCR has resumed conducting case-by-case reviews of validated inmates in prisons that have no inmates participating in the hunger strike.


Since last October, CDCR has conducted 415 case-by-case reviews of validated inmates.
