The Fresno City College Police Academy announces the graduation of 21 cadets from its 545 hour intensive modular format of the regular basic police course, which began May 31, 2011. This is the conclusion of a three module program spread over two years totaling at least 1063 hours. The students came from three different statewide presenters of the first two modules.The graduates have successfully passed all segments of a very rigorous curriculum in over 42 topical areas that included criminal law, investigations, patrol and juvenile procedures, vehicle operations, traffic, emergency management, first aid, professionalism and ethics, physical training, and many other related subjects. This Police Academy is certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training to present the basic academy course in this modular format. A graduate is eligible to be hired as a police officer, deputy sheriff or district attorney investigator anywhere in California. Several other states recognize this certificate for employment.
