The 2011 Fresno Area College Night is proud to once again welcome Pacific Gas and Electric Company as the exclusive sponsor for this event, which hopes to attract more than 5,000 prospective college students and their families.  This year’s program will be held on September 14, 2011, at the Fresno Convention Center Exhibit Hall (848 “M” Street, Fresno) from 6:00-9:00 p.m.  Admission is free.  Students and parents are also welcome to arrive early for the “Hour of Power” orientation at 5:30 p.m.

More than 100 colleges and universities will be on hand to showcase their academic programs and provide students with contact and admission information to the college of their choice.  Breakout sessions will run simultaneously on college-related topics and will be conducted in English, Spanish and Southeast Asian languages. Sessions will include:

  • CSU and UC Campuses
  • College Options for Migrant Students
  • Community Colleges
  • Financial Aid
  • Scholarships
  • Historical Black Colleges and Universities

Students from more than 30 Fresno County high schools are expected to attend the event that “is designed to help students get a jumpstart on their future,” according to Larry Powell, Fresno County Superintendent of Schools.  “Our students have a multitude of options when it comes to post-secondary education.  College Night offers parents and students valuable information and insights that will help them make better choices and decisions as they prepare for life after high school.”
